Apartment complex
The Paddepoel district in Groningen has undergone a major metamorphosis in recent years. Since the start of this project in 2012, we have supplied suitable facing bricks for various blocks of buildings and streets in the district. Always presented with a colourful range, in keeping with the overarching theme of the 'SUN'. The final part of this multi-year project is the apartment complex at Dierenriemstraat. These exterior walls also boost Strating's bricks.
In a district full of Strating bricks
Since the first phase of this project started, developments in both our industry and our factory have not been idle. The architect, Hans Overdiep of zofa architects, has reaped the benefits of this. Marten: "Over the years, he has been able to incorporate our latest developments in his designs time and again. Such as new materials and raw materials to actually make the bricks. And the possibilities for applying new colours and shades have developed too. When this final phase arrived, we had just started using some new clays. Something that was immediately applied to the exterior walls of these apartments. It's fun creating something together like this."
This apartment is part of a new residential area. That's why the architect took a good look at how the exterior could fit within the overall picture and the district theme of the "SUN". This is reflected in the choice of a light colour mix of three bricks. These also occur in other apartments and ground-level homes in the district. The dark facing brick in the plinth again fits in nicely with the nearby buildings.
