In the De Waterlijn project, located in De Zeilen at Woldmeer lake, the unique location was an important point of attention. This required extra care in both the design and layout of the 33 homes. The variety of housing types, from semi-detached houses and townhouses to terraced houses, reflects the diversity within the project. Thanks to our sustainable production methods, such as the use of locally sourced clay and an extrusion press that gives the bricks the right size, we were able to meet the client's exact requirements. In addition, we contributed to a lower ecological footprint of the project.

The architect felt it was important to realise this project through local sources and chose Strating partly because of our sustainable production process. Ultimately, a traditionally fired brick in Groningen red was opted for, a material that perfectly matches the architect's vision for the project.

Robust materials with elegant details

A refined colour and material package was carefully put together for each home, using robust materials that age beautifully over time. The exterior walls are constructed from reddish-brown bricks, which are processed without perpend joints for a sleeker and more elegant appearance. Instead of the smooth front, a deliberate choice was made to use the rough rear side as the exposed side, which gives the homes an extra dose of character and a distinctive appearance.
