Residential area Helpermaar
The newly-developed residential area Helpermaar is located in the southern part of Groningen. The approximately 350 homes were designed by KuiperCompagnons. They range from spacious villas to modern terraced houses and spacious semi-detached houses. All with their own identity thanks to different style elements and colours. In collaboration with Rottinghuis' Aannemingsbedrijf, we supplied the facing bricks for three types of terraced houses.

Marten: "We always have popular bricks that are in high demand in stock, that is our Standard Collection. If there is a lot of demand for a specific customised brick, or if we spot a trend in the market, we include it in our Standard Collection. This way we can be sure that a suitable brick is always quickly available, for every project. These bricks are available as a mix, but can also offer the desired effect individually." That's why for this project, the contractor opted for bricks from the Standard Collection: a single type of brick for each type of home. It fits in nicely with the overall appearance of the district and the existing buildings.
The city villas, characterised by their bright white window frames, are fitted with the smooth, glossy Saturn brick. The RRK Geel was selected for the yellow houses with protruding bricks. The semi-detached houses form the final part of the project. These are fitted with the dark brown glossy Dollard brick combined with stuccowork. Marten: "The bricks are all different, but fit together. This way, they emphasise the unique character of the different housing types, yet at the same time contribute to the unity in the district."
