Residential care centre
A new, safe living environment has been built opposite the Leeuwarden Medical Centre. The design features exterior walls with a wide variety of colours and structures. Houben Architectuur (at the time Weeda van der Weijden) presented us with their specific wish list. We created the end result together, exactly as desired.
Specifications for rich detailing
Together with the architect, we converted the colours from the design into reality. The development of test bricks was important in achieving this result. Pieter Jan: "The basis of all the facing bricks in this project is the colour. By performing tests we discover what is technically possible in terms of production, whilst allowing the customer to see and experience what the end result can be. Based on the final colours, we took a more in-depth course: each brick was given its own structure, finish, dimensions and details. This creates a careful and rich detailing in the exterior wall."
Pieter Jan: "The great diversity of colours and sizes in this project posed a technical challenge in terms of the production. Yet one that we approached with great enthusiasm. Ultimately the bricks we designed and produced were exactly as the architect wanted. All facing bricks used in this project can rightly be called Specials. We love carrying out these types of projects."
