School building

Amsterdam

A new building was built for the Amsterdam International Community School, on the edge of the Amsterdam Zuidas region. Architect Mecanoo designed a unique building, in perfect harmony with its surroundings in terms of volume, colour and structure. Van Dijk Gevelstenen, responsible for the exterior walls in this project, regarded us as the ideal partner for the development of the large quantity of customised bricks.

Custom-perforated bricks

A sustainable solution

We need fewer raw materials for our perforated facing bricks. This also ensures that the drying time per brick is considerably shorter. Marten: "The design of the school building features specific patterns in the brickwork. In addition to customised bricks, this also requires customised perforation of the bricks. This is because the perforation should not be visible on the outside of the building. To achieve this, we created the necessary flexibility in our production."

Mixed colours and reliefs

This design features our Dollard brick in various sizes. The sober appearance of this brick fits in well with the image the architect wishes to create. The mixed colour and the varying reliefs in the brickwork have created a beautiful exterior wall.
