Zuidelijke ringweg
The new southern ring road in Groningen came into service in September 2024. This section of the A7 motorway was completed following years of work and delays. The Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management, the provincial authorities of Groningen and the Municipality of Groningen wanted to use sustainably produced strips that also aesthetically matched the character of the city.
STRATING SPECIALS
We developed these strips for this project together with the architects of wUrck architectuur stedenbouw landschap and Syb van Breda & Co Architects, who designed the renovated ring road. Marten: "We opted for Hunze break strips and applied them in various ways. So we used both the smooth back and the rough front of the strips after breaking. This versatile application resulted in less waste being produced, making the process significantly more sustainable."
When drawing up the plans for the renewal of the ring road, one of the requirements of the market parties was that the project would be carried out exclusively by companies from the Northern Netherlands. Thanks to our extrusion press, we can produce strips and create a unique and personalised end result using clay from the Dollard polders. It soon became clear that we were a suitable partner for the delivery of the strips for this project.
